Japanese Hiragana Assembly – Omedetou Gozaimasu – Congratulations
Congratulations to all students who achieved their Hiragana Orange Belts (Prep), Purple Belts (Grade 1) or Blackbelts (Grade 2-6). While most of the Grade 3-6 students who achieved their Blackbelt this year were presented with the belts at the Term 3 Japanese Assembly, the junior grades shone in the recent Term 4 Japanese Assembly. In total this year, over 140 students received their Hiragana belts which was up from 98 students last year. Also, fifteen Grade 5 or 6 students achieved their Hiragana Masters Certificate (recognising that they could read AND write the full set of 107 Hiragana characters with 100% accuracy). This was a big increase from last year when 2 students reached Hiragana Masters status. Furthermore, virtually all students across the school increased their Hiragana scores in reading (Prep to Grade 4) or writing (Grades 5 and 6) this year. Truly a brilliant achievement. Yoku dekimashita (well done.)

Used Christmas Card Collection
Just a reminder that I will again be collecting used Christmas Cards when school resumes in 2024. These are used to make Grade 3 Christmas crowns in December each year. Once decorations start being taken down at home, could you please consider putting aside any Christmas cards, and send them in to the school office in February. The back of the card (with the greeting) can be torn off for privacy if you wish, since we just use the front of the card with the picture on it.
Arigatou gozaimasu (Thank you very much)
