Dear Parents,
Happy Mothers Day! I hope all our mothers, and those who show a mother's love, had the best day filled with hugs, love and gestures of gratitude and appreciation. It is also a time we remember those mothers who are no longer with us.
The Mothers Day breakfast was back in full flourish this year with a capacity house recorded on Friday morning. The egg and bacon rolls were absolutely delicious and there was an abundance of other sweet treats. Congratulations to all our prize winners, and sponsors, expertly hosted by Paul Holland and Damien McDade.
A special thanks to Paul, Matt Regos, Danny Maher and to all the dads who were up early to set up tables and cook breakfast for us all. It was wonderful to see our school community come together to celebrate.
The Mothers Day stall was again a great opportunity for the students to purchase the perfect Mothers Day gift. Thank you to Zoe Holland and her team of mums who were on hand on Thursday to set up the stall and help with selections!
Mothers Day Lunch
Mums from across the school enjoyed bubbles, bingo and belly laughs at the Mother's Day Lunch on Friday. The event was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the amazing women in our school community and provide social connections with people beyond our own year levels. It was brilliant to see new relationships being formed and wonderful to share a room full of positivity and fun! Congratulations to Jess Clynes and Patty Brown on their Drag Bingo wins and thank you to all of the mums who came along to celebrate the day.
Mothers Day Portraits
Many thanks to Rebecca Saunders, our Visual Arts teacher, for organizing the portrait sitting for mothers or special friends as part of our Mothers Day celebrations. The sun was shining most days as our special visitors sat outside in the sun amidst easels, paper, pencils and concentrated looks from their children. What a joy!
Prep Prayers in Pyjamas
On Tuesday night we will celebrate Prayers in Pyjamas with our Prep students, teachers and parents. We look forward to seeing you at 6.00 pm in the Open Learning Area outside the Prep rooms. The evening will run for 1 hour.
Lunch Time Alternatives - Library
Every day at lunch time the Library is open for students to come and read books, draw or create with lego. (or just take a break!)
Art Club
The Year 6 Arts Leaders have started lunchtime art classes each Friday for interested students in P-2. A wonderful initiative.
NAPLAN
This week students in Yr 3 and Yr 5 will sit their NAPLAN tests.
Tuesday - Writing
Wednesday - Reading
Thursday - Language Conventions
Friday - Numeracy
The assessment provides parents and schools with an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests. The tests will be online for the first time for our students and are adaptive in nature. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process – it does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance. NAPLAN also provides schools, education authorities and governments with information about how education programs are working and whether young Australians are achieving important educational outcomes in literacy and numeracy. The students have been well prepared and we wish them all the best.
Meditation
As we all seek to reconnect and return to familiar practices, I would like to invite parents back into classrooms for Meditation. Students in Yr P-6 practice meditation each morning at 8:55am. It was great to see so many parents back in classrooms last week.
Cross Country Yr 3-6
We were certainly blessed on Wednesday last week as the heavy clouds held back the rain long enough for the students to run the cross country. I was so proud of all the students who ran the course and demonstrated resilience, courage and determination.
Congratulations to the students who gained a place and will progress to the next level.

Year 6 Sausage Sizzle
The Yr 6 Community Leadership Team has decided to put on a regular sausage sizzle for the Year 6 students as we continue to build friendships, safety and morale.
Assembly
This Term, Assemblies will be held every second Monday at 3pm. Our first Assembly for the Term was held last week. Classes will not be presenting their learning at whole school Assemblies as we move to Year level based Learning Assemblies which will be held each term. All families should have received the date for their child’s learning assembly in the class newsletter which went out last Monday.
Awards will still be given out at the Monday assembly based on the Values that we are focusing on for the term.
The next whole school Assembly will be on Monday 16 May at 3pm. Assemblies will be held in the Amphitheatre when the weather permits. Parents are most welcome.
Andrew Chinn Concert
On Wednesday 18 May, Andrew Chinn (singer, song writer) will join us for a day of student workshops, culminating in an evening Concert where all students will perform a song with their classmates. We hope that all students and their families can attend as it promises to be a great night.
We are planning to have the concert in the Amphitheatre with a 6pm start. The concert should go for approx an hour. If the weather is against us we will move into the Church.
This event was initially planned as the Welcome Picnic for Term 1, but restrictions at the time meant we could not go ahead. At the Concert I look forward to introducing the staff for 2022. We will not be having ‘Open classrooms’, as this term’s Learning Assemblies will give parents the opportunity to see their child’s learning spaces.
