Dear Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and a very restful break.
We welcome all our families back to school and look forward to a productive and exciting term ahead.
New to St Paul's
I am delighted to announce three new staff members who have joined our St Paul’s school community this term.
Tricia Geraghty - We welcome Tricia who has replaced Sheridan as our Year 1 classroom teacher. We introduced Tricia in our previous newsletter. Tricia has started the term with wonderful enthusiasm and a great deal of junior school experience.
Ida Lantry - Ida joins St Paul’s as Reading Support teacher. Ida will be working with students across many year levels to support children in their reading development. Ida has experience in teaching Reading comprehension and phonics. She will be working Mondays to Thursdays.
Laura Jemettta - Laura is joining St Paul's as part of our Learning Support team. Laura has worked with children in other schools assisting in their Literacy development as well as other areas of learning. Laura will be working Mondays to Fridays across the school to help meet the needs of many students.
This term the Giraga Hewage family joined our school community whose son begins Year 1.
Recent Events
As we are all aware, there have been some very distressing occurrences on the weekend. The incident in Sydney and the situation in the Middle East may have stirred up many distressing and unsettling feelings for our students.
As a sign of respect for the victims, our flag is flying at half mast Monday and Tuesday. Our thoughts and prayers are with all victims, their families, survivors, first responders, and anyone touched by this tragedy.
It is important to remind children that the tragedy that took place in Sydney on the weekend was the result of the actions of one person. Children may take comfort and focus on how incredible it is that so many hundreds of people have come together to save, protect, and support others and that there is so much more goodness in this world. We can provide reassurance to students that they are safe in their school and communities.

School Photos
Reminder: School photos are being taken on Wednesday 17 April and we require all students in full summer uniform. If this is your child's sports day please send runners in school bags.
Don't forget to order your photos and sibling packs on the Elite School Photography website.
School Uniform
As we transition from summer to winter uniforms, we notice some warm days sneaking into the week. We’re happy about that and would love the sun to shine for as long as possible! Just a reminder that we allow a two-week cross-over period in Term 2 where parents can choose to send their child/ren in summer or winter uniform, weather-dependent and common sense needs to apply. School hats are still required whether in Summer or Winter Uniform until the end of April. It is the expectation that all students are in Winter Uniform the week beginning the 29th of April.
Uniform Shop
Needing winter uniform? The P&F second-hand uniform shop will be open this Friday 19th April 8:40 - 9:30am. Eftpos or cash available. All proceeds go towards the school.
Easter Raffle
On the last day of Term 1, we held our Easter raffle - congratulations to all the lucky winners and a huge thank you to all families for your contributions. Once we have tallied our donations we will advise you all of the amount raised.
Anzac Day
ANZAC Day is a day to remember the service and sacrifice of the ANZAC soldiers landing on Gallipoli in Turkey on 25 April 1915 during World War I. It is a time where we also recognise the sacrifices of servicemen and servicewomen who have participated and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
Students will be learning about the importance of commemorating ANZAC Day and the significance of this for us in today’s world.
It is not always easy to explain war to children, but teachers do so with care and sensitivity so that students can understand the sacrifice of soldiers as we approach ANZAC Day.
Lest we forget.
Merchandise is being sold in the office - pins, pens, wristbands and bag tags ranging from $1 - $5. Please bring small change.
