Dear Parents,
Welcome back to all families, teachers and staff. I hope you have had a wonderful break and enjoyed the warm weather. I think we all deserved a rest over the Easter holidays after such a busy and rather long Term 1. I know personally I had ambitions of going away, getting out and about and visiting family and friends. In fact, I ended up having more pyjama days at home watching telly than I did getting out. But that in itself can be refreshing; a way of calming down rather than filling up holiday time.
Term 2 is a 9 week term and one that provides opportunities for students to engage in deep learning that is challenging and differentiated. At the end of the Term all students will receive a written report on their Semester 1 development. Early in Term 3, parents will have an opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher to discuss the achievements and goals moving forward.
Next Monday you will be able to access the Term 2 class Newsletter. The class newsletters written by teachers contain important information about Term 2 learning and school dates.
Enhancing Catholic School Identity Parent Survey
This year, St Paul's has been invited to participate in the Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools Enhancing Catholic School Identity Survey. This is an important survey that is an integral component of school improvement. The survey invites schools to reflect deeply on their Catholic identity and the means by which it might be enhanced. Staff, parents, and students (Years 5 and 6) are asked to complete the survey.
Whilst it is not a requirement, it is important information for our school and we would greatly appreciate your assistance. As an incentive for completing the survey, we would like to place parents in a draw to have $100 taken off school fees. When you have completed the survey, please send an email to the office confirming it has been completed.
The survey is open until Friday 5 May 2023.
Please read the parent information guide on how to access the ECSI survey.
Login instructions:
Access the surveys at www.ecsi.site/au/user/
Enter the case-sensitive password Ghj654 and click login

We thank you for your participation. If you have any trouble with the survey, please contact Freda.

Enrolments for Prep 2024
Enrolments for Prep students for 2024 are fast filling up. If you have a child for Prep next year and have not submitted an enrolment form please contact the office ASAP.
Year 6 Confirmation
In the last week of Term 1, St Paul’s was informed that there would be a change of date for our Year 6 Confirmation. This was requested by Bishop Tony as he is now required to attend the ordination of a new Bishop on 31 May.
Year 6 Confirmation is now Wednesday 7th June 2023 at 6pm. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this may cause to some families, however it is entirely out of our control.
The new date for Confirmation is reflected in our parent calendar and will be detailed in the Year 6 newsletter.
ANZAC Day
ANZAC Day is a day to remember the service and sacrifice of the ANZAC soldiers landing on Gallipoli in Turkey on 25 April 1915 during World War I. It is a time where we also recognise the sacrifices of servicemen and servicewomen who have participated and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
Today, students are learning about the importance of commemorating ANZAC Day and the significance of this for us in today’s world.
It is not always easy to explain war to children, but teachers do so with care and sensitivity so that students can understand the sacrifice of soldiers as we approach ANZAC Day.
Lest we forget.
Chess Tournament
Last term St Paul's hosted a chess tournament and we came 12th out of 20 schools. Christos Tsihitas was the strongest player from St Paul's winning 4/7 games - well done Christos!
Wishing everyone a lovely day tomorrow.
Kind regards,
Freda

Grade 6 Social Justice Captains - 31 March 2023
Serving others will change the world
The Grade 6 Social Justice Leaders put into action what our Catholic Church asks of us - to serve others. On Friday, the Grade 6 students cooked fried rice and pumpkin soup for the sick and elderly in our parish. The meals were all cooked from scratch with lots of love and laughter. The students certainly have taken away the stress of thinking about, shopping for and making dinner. They should be proud of themselves and the impact that it will have on our community. A big thank you to the Grade 6 families for donating food and lending cooking tools. While they may not be winning any Masterchef series yet, they have made an impact beyond themselves.
Please note the next stage of roadworks occurring in Higgins Rd.
